Red Ringers

Chihuly’s expressive drawing style is combined with a sugar lift print technique in this intaglio print, Red Ringers. Through the application of a sugar solution, which is painted onto a metal plate in the initial stages of the printing process, Chihuly’s spontaneous brush marks take on a soft, ethereal quality. A palette of effervescent yellow, calming aqua, and spirited red creates a beautifully balanced composition.
